How pathetically patriotic.

No one gives a flying fornication about the soccer until 11 hapless Aussie fucktards manage to a) by some miracle, get into the World Cup and b) manage to somehow score 3 freakish goals after being nil all day. Maybe Japan threw the match.

Anyway, all of a sudden people who never showed any interest in soccer are bloody experts. It's all anyone can talk about. How big the bandwagon is that people jump on. Personally, I'd like to set it alight.

I just hope that Australia bombs out in the next round so I don't have to hear any more shite about it on the radio.

Yes, you guessed it, boys and boyettes. I'm in a shithouse mood.

Same here. EVERYONE is talking about the soccer and EVERYONE is an expert. I didn't even know the bloody match was on.

I was going to post about it, but I figured I wouldn't because you'd do it first :). I watched, I cheered. Still I've watched diligently every world cup on the TV since USA 1994... Fortunately I'm not saturated in it at work.

Oh and Shayne, Australia's got at least 2 more matches to go. It'll keep up untill at least next Tuesday. Sorry mate.

It's not even an interesting game. I mean, really, who can be arsed watching something without blood and which has the possibility of a nil-all draw?

In Vietnam, mom and dad are waiting to get on the plane. It's midnight or something, and all of the sudden, all the tv screens that have flight listings and everything turn off. After a moment or two, they flicker on with the soccer.
The plane was delayed until the match finished.
Strange, strange, strange.

But Vietnam wasn't playing... That's odd. Has vietnam ever made the world cup finals?

Shayne, I despise you. Then again I am not a bandwagon-jumper, and I get your point about that. Still, Australia well deserved to win the match, and if more people get interested in a fantastic sport because of it, then hurrah.

no cup finals for vietnam, as far as I know. Certainly none in the past 30-40 years.

I love you too, Jim.

Look, if you enjoy soccer, fine. If you always watch the World Cup, fine again. I do neither and I'm sick of bandwagon jumpers. eg. Bogans at pubs in front of the soccer on telly who pretend that they're into the game when it's all just another excuse to demonstrate their ignorant, jingoistic retardedness. I for one am not going to pretend that it's the best thing that could happen to Australia, which is the impression I'm getting from almost everyone at the moment.

I sound angry, don't I? I'm not actually...

I have no idea. But it was a flight to Australia, so most of the people there were Aussies. Mom said the airport went nuts (it was practically empty save for their flight) when Australia won.

That's a lie. A lot of these people actually cared and knew about Australian soccer before we got in the World Cup. It's just that there's been zero exposure in the mass media until now, so most people didn't have any reason to care about it (they weren't told to by the late Mr Packer).

...

Bollocks.

Sorry, it's morning and that's the most intelligent comeback I can make.

I disagree with you that most people who are orgasming in their pants right now actually gave a toss about the game before Australia made the World Cup.
