[livejournal.com profile] alleycat04 came around last night and we had a rip-roaring good time. There was much Stella drunk, much tobacco smoked, many little fucker mosquitos biting (mostly poor Eva - they seem to relish the taste of her blood) and great conversation. It was good catching up, Eliza.

However, as all good things come to an end, so has my mood.

How hard can it be to find out how much nitrogen there is to carbon in casein? It's not like I'm asking for the relative ratio of rocking-horse poo to rocking-horse anuses here.

Bastards.

Isn't it (at least a bit) variable? I would have thought you can find % Nitrogen, at least, for the specific product you're using, in the information sheet with it/on the pot it's in. They've got some details for their own products on here: http://www.americancasein.com/edible.htm , but obviously details are going to vary depending on what form (e.g. what salt or whatever else) you have the casein as. May be completely wrong, of course- I've never needed to find this out, for which I am most relieved...

Yeah, it is a bit variable but I'm only looking for relative ratios. Thanks for the website - if that fails I have to use my supervosor's big table of ratios of all the amino acids to each other to work out the carbon-nitrogen ratios, minus all the water molecules lost for peptide linkages. Hours of fun! *shudder*
