*tsk tsk* very disappointing.

1. I am the world that hides the universal secret of all time

2. Come closer, my darling, don't tease me, not tonight

3. Almost every day, I see the same face on broken picture tube, it fits the attitude

4. I said to father, hold onto your beads man

5. I've been stuffed in your pocket for the last hundred days

6. I woke the same as any other day except a voice was in my head

7. Welcome to where time stands still

8. Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Pearl Jam - "Black" [livejournal.com profile] jpom40

9. The following is a true story, only the names have been changed to protect the guilty

10. The lunatic is on the grass
Pink Floyd - "Brain Damage" [livejournal.com profile] jpom40

11. Look out, mama, there's a white boat comin' up the river

12. Hey fellas, have you heard the news? You know that Annie's back in town?

13. We might kiss when we are alone
Damien Rice - "Delicate" [livejournal.com profile] jpom40

14. I've got to feeling low for making light of whatever you said

15. You let me violate you, you let me desecrate you
Nine Inch Nails - "Closer" [livejournal.com profile] degsie

16. I thought I saw him on the video, the trance is keeping him under
Queens of the Stone Age - "God Is In The Radio" [livejournal.com profile] visible_fred

17. My mamma wants to know where I'm spending all my dough

18. We had a lot of luck on Venus, and we always had a ball on Mars

19. There's the moon asking to stay, long enough for the clouds to fly me away

20. When your stars are baked, and your rivers fly, do you ever believe you were stuck out in the sky

Looking back on it now there are a couple of very obscure songs there. But for god's sake, they're not as rare as balls on a rocking horse...
Hoping [livejournal.com profile] muffin_gloves and possibly [livejournal.com profile] gerbilsage will know some of these. A hint, people - some of these songs are by very well known bands but weren't necessarily big hits.

But anyway. I had four hours of sleep last night and I've been teaching all day so I am absolutely stuffed. Going home to crash on the couch and watch Voyager, which I know is sad. Damn you, friend who got me onto that frigging show!

Oooh! Number twelve is Heartbreaker by Led Zeppelin and was covered by Nirvana.
Can I have a cookie?

All three, well done.

It all depends really, on what kind of cookie you're asking for.

All 3? I don't get it. Number 1 is in a cover by Metallica, on Garage, Inc., called Sabbra Cadabra, but it's not the first line, so I gave up on that.

It was by Black Sabbath first and it's on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album. You're right, Metallica did cover Sabbra Cadabra and the words in their version do contain that line and I'm not sure why that is but the original doesn't have that line in it.

What the hell? I've heard the Metallica version of Sabbra Cadabra but I don't remember that line in it...why do bands always bugger something up when they cover songs?

I waited for everybody else to have a crack first.

Number 3 is Pantera. Probably Fucking Hostile or Mouth for War?

6 is Soundgarden but I'll be buggered if I can work out the song.

9. AC/DC Ain't No Fun

19. Jeff Buckley, Grace

20. SOAD Peephole

It's Fucking Hostile, and you're right about Soundgarden...ah fuck it. The song is The Day I Tried To Live." That's close enough for me.

4 is Dallas Crane! "Wrong Party"! Just had to play it again to make sure....hell, I knew those words straight away, it's just a great song that deserves to be played all the time! (Plus, it also conjures up an image of Eva singing along to the 'see you in hell' lines as some of us were leaving for M's 21st in whoop-whoop.)
