WALL-E

Easily one of the best Pixar movies to date. It was cute, funny, heart-rending, and the animation was absolutely superb. However, it's probably not one that I'll happily watch over and over again, like Shrek or Monsters Inc. It's very plot heavy - I wonder how kids actually follow it. Then again, I remember that they probably don't - they just watch the cute dumpster robot and listen to his little plaintive cry of "EEEEVA! EEEEEEEVA!" (and yes, that was hilarious...).

Death At A Funeral

For some reason we rented this out tonight after seeing WALL-E. We didn't actually finish watching it. It's shit. In more ways than one.

And I is sheepish.

The minute I walked into my Once-Again Favourite Café, the proprietress apologised profusely for fucking up my coffee order yesterday, and gave me another free one. I actually did half-heartedly protest, but she insisted.

Mnyes. Now I have coffee. Mnyes...

Now for a ramble about the new Batman movie. Thar be spoilers. )

That was not supposed to be so long. Oh well.

Remember "Black Sheep"???

Well, just look at the reviews!!!!

Oh man. Has it come out in this godforsaken country yet??? Have I missed it???

My favourite quote: "A one-joke skit that trots in a straight line, and your enjoyment of it will depend entirely on how many times you need to see gonzo sheep rip out human entrails."

I just watched Garden State on TV. I'd forgotten how much I loved that movie. Not just the quirky characters, but the whole sense of despair and small-town boredom it seems to build up, and then demolish gently in the closing 15 minutes; at least from the point of view of the main protagonists.

Yeah, I know. It's got a sappy ending, a bit Hollywood-esqe, but it seems to fit it perfectly. They're still fucked up characters, especially Braff's character. He knows this, yet they're both willing to give it a bash. I don't know, I find it satisfying.

I must watch more Scrubs.

I don't care if the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie has received really crap reviews. I'm gonna see it anyway! It's called nostalgia, people.

Who's with me? I'm still planning to see Black Sheep too...

OK, people who don't like blood/violence, even highly stylized violence (read: fake as hell), DO NOT CLICK THE PLAY BUTTON!

For those who aren't so squeamish, sit back for the funniest two minutes in my your life.

Yes, this movie is real and apparently coming to a cinema near you soon. Ah, those crazy Kiwis and their genetically-engineered killer sheep.

Back to the lit review for another 10 minutes. Yes, I know, [livejournal.com profile] cows_might_fly, I said I wouldn't LJ today. But a) I got a fair bit done and b) this was just too good to pass up!
